New Horizons for Eco-Labels and Sustainability

The fifth edition of the Sustainable Foods Summit drew to a successful close on 18th January, with about 180 executives convening in San Francisco to discuss key sustainability issues. Key lessons from the North American edition were provide greater authenticity, address social inequalities in food supply chains, and consider new distribution models for sustainable foods. The summit covered a diverse range of sustainability subjects, including mobile technology, emerging eco-labels, sustainable ingredients, sourcing local, raw foodism, ethical finance, ecological packaging, sustainability metrics, marketing best-practices and consumer insights. The next edition of this international series of summits will take place in Amsterdam on 7-8th June 2012. The summit will look at the evolution of food eco-labels and discuss sustainability best-practices in the food industry.
